ELIGIBILITY

M.C.A. Degree Programme Candidates who have passed in any recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration (10+2+3 years pattern) in any discipline with Mathematics or Business Mathematics at +2 level
(or)
who have passed in any recognized Bachelor’s degree (with Mathematics / Statistics* as any one of the subjects) of minimum 3 years (10 + 2 + 3 pattern) duration may apply for TANCET 2009.

* Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, Algorithm and Numerical Methods, Numerical and Statistical Methods, Probability and Statistics, Probability Mathematics, Numerical Methods, Algebra and Probability Mathematics, Quantitative Techniques, Computer Oriented Numerical Methods, Engineering
Mathematics, Mathematics for Management, Operations Research, Discrete Mathematics, Computational Methods, Bio-Statistics, Allied Mathematics, Allied Basic Mathematics, Algebra-Analytical Geometry of three dimensions and Trigonometry, Business Statistics and Operation Research, Quantitative Methods of Business.

Candidates who have passed the above qualifying degree course or are appearing for the final semester/ year examination of the eligible qualifying degree course during April/May  may also apply for TANCET.

Acceptance of a person as a candidate for writing the Entrance Test does not confer on the person, the right of equivalent eligibility for admission to any of the above courses. The decision on the eligibility of the candidates for admission to a course entirely rests with the admitting authority offering the courses.

Other State candidates can appear for the Entrance Test, but the eligibility conditions will be fixed by the admitting authority / University.

SYLLABUS:

TANCET MCA Syllabus can be broadly classified into 4 categories.
The Question Paper will be designed to test the capability of the candidates in the following areas:

(i) Quantitative Ability
(ii) Analytical reasoning
(iii) Logical reasoning
(iv) Computer awareness

There may also be a few questions on verbal activity, basic Science etc. The Question Paper will have 100 objective type questions and the candidates have to answer all the questions in 2 hours. Each question will have four alternative answers. The candidates have to choose the correct answer and shade the appropriate small open box against each question in the answer sheet with a pencil/ ballpoint pen (black or blue)

EVALUATION PATTERN& SCHEME:

The evaluation pattern is that 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer and 1/4 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. No deduction will be made for questions left unanswered. Multiple shadings will be considered as wrong answer and 1/4 mark will be deducted.
